Dr. Kimberly Madison, DNP, AGPCNP-BC, WCC: Building Founders, Not Followers
Dr. Kimberly Madison is a Board-Certified Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner and visionary leader in dermatology nursing education, research, and entrepreneurship. With over 15 years of experience and advanced training in biology and biomedical engineering, she brings a unique lens to the evolving healthcare landscape. She is an Ambassador for TechNurses Africa and a proud member of the
Black AI Think Tank, actively shaping how nurse practitioners understand and utilize AI and Augmented Reality, from ideation to implementation and investor relations.
Core Mission
Dr. Madison is the Founder of
Mahogany Dermatology Nursing | Education | Research™, where her tagline,
"Nurses are both investors and one of the most underrecognized investable forces in healthcare. Instead of begging for capital, it’s time we invest in one another," encapsulates her mission: to empower Nurse Practitioners in dermatology and aesthetics to build legally sound, ethically grounded, and financially fulfilling careers.
What Makes This Work Different
Nursing school ignores skin of color. Most dermatology training overlooks entrepreneurship. Most cosmetics training doesn’t care about nursing experience. Dr. Madison's methodology addresses all three, because she's lived all three.
The Alliance of Cosmetic Nurse Practitioners™Dr. Madison leads
the Alliance of Cosmetic Nurse Practitioners™ (ACNP), a professional membership community fostering career growth, business education, mentorship, and networking for NPs specializing in cosmetics and entrepreneurship. Members gain access to weekly workshops, strategic planning, peer networking, and comprehensive resources designed to help them build profitable, scalable practices. The Alliance operates on the 9 Pillars of Advanced Practice Nursing: patient care, personal well-being, professional development, financial literacy, research, policy, media, technology, and business.
Financial Literacy Leadership: A Signature Differentiator
Dr. Madison recognized a critical gap: Cosmetic NPs are making $500K-$2M+ annually but don't understand investment, wealth-building, or capital deployment. Many go bankrupt within 2-3 years despite strong revenue, not from lack of clinical skill, but from lack of financial foundation. In 2025-2026, Dr. Madison launched the
Financial Intimacy for Founders 6-week intensive series and the
Cosmetic NP Financial Literacy Series, four quarterly ebooks addressing money mindset, business structure, investment strategies, and legacy planning. Her thesis:
"Nurses are investors, and we are investable." She teaches NP entrepreneurs to think like capital holders, not just service providers, positioning them to invest in each other's businesses rather than waiting for venture capital.
The Fibroid-Keloid-CCCA Research Initiative: Groundbreaking Work in Nursing
Dr. Madison leads a pioneering research collaboration examining shared molecular pathways between three fibrotic disorders disproportionately affecting Black women: uterine fibroids, keloid scarring, and Central Centrifugal Cicatricial Alopecia (CCCA). The research team, Dr. Kimberly Madison, Dr. Mariam Rabiu (DNP), Thérèse Wilson-Rawlins (Jackson Laboratory), and Ni-Ka Ford (Certified Medical Illustrator), investigates how agri-derived bioactives and AI-driven molecular modeling can inform anti-fibrotic therapeutics. Their work bridges clinical dermatology, translational science, and health equity advocacy.
Recent Milestone: The team's abstract,
"Harnessing Agri-Derived Bioactives for Anti-Fibrotic Therapeutics: A Translational Framework Bridging AI-Driven Molecular Modeling and Clinical Dermatology," was accepted for oral presentation at the
American Chemical Society (ACS) Spring 2026 National Meeting in Atlanta, a significant achievement positioning nurse-led research at the forefront of translational science. The initiative represents a first-of-its-kind collaboration: nurse practitioners, laboratory scientists, and medical illustrators working together to address conditions that have been historically under researched and underserved.

Core Perspective & Philosophy
Dr. Madison believes every Nurse Practitioner should master
9 Pillars of Advanced Practice: patient care, personal well-being, professional development, financial literacy, research, policy, media, technology, and business. She advocates for shifting from "being good at multiple things" to "doing one thing exceptionally" to achieve mastery and profitability. Her perspective is rooted in the belief that NP entrepreneurs can fill critical gaps in healthcare faster and more practically than traditional systems. She emphasizes
Provider-Centered Practice, advocating for the well-being of healthcare professionals, and champions a culture of abundance over scarcity. She believes in getting paid for what you know and have, without needing additional certifications or degrees.
Ultimate Mission & Impact
Dr. Madison's ultimate goal is to empower Nurse Practitioner entrepreneurs to build resilient, ethical, and profitable businesses that achieve personal fulfillment while significantly increasing access to high-quality, culturally appropriate dermatology care, particularly for communities of color and in provider shortage areas, both domestically and globally. She aims to transform the industry by fostering a collective of NPs who lead with confidence, impact, and a legacy of positive change.
